Wisdom Circle

for midlife
 women

Midlife comes with a pause, a menopause of recalibration and initiation.

This is a small online gathering of women who are looking to learn from and lean into each other.

Our culture can begin to feel narrow and ill-fitting in midlife, especially with its youth-oriented standards for women.

In Green Callings' survey, one out of three women ages 42 to 60+ report feelings of invisibility.

“Women continue to develop their strengths and actually bloom, rather than fade in midlife.”

- Joan Borysenko, Ph.D.

What does a wisdom circle look like?

01

Five 90-minute, weekly online gatherings for up to 10 women

02

The circle opens with a reading, followed by a brief silence. Next will be a prompt for free writing, followed by an invitation to reflect on the topic, one at a time. There is no back and forth in the circle. We take turns speaking from the depth of our hearts, and we listen with presence, non-judgement, and support. The wisdom that arises from the circle is our teacher.

03

A compassionate community that fosters authentic expression and true belonging

04

Being in good company for the challenges, laughs, and insights that midlife brings

Founder

Lisa Groen

I see midlife as a time of reckoning: Who are you really, and what will you do with the second half of life?

Like you, I bring my first half of life to this wisdom circle. This includes a mix of experience that doesn't fit into a simple box: mom to two, stepmom to three, brand-new grandmother, a corporate career in marketing and communications, published author, 30-year yoga practitioner, 25-year meditator (centering prayer), facilitator of group spiritual direction. Midlife has called me to create communities.

Which brings me back to you.

Circle gatherings invite insight beyond what one person can summon alone. You'll engage with new questions, stories, and perspectives. You'll entertain warm possibilities in a circle of supportive women.

kind words from participants

"Before I engaged with Green Callings, I felt like midlife was an ending, or the beginning of the ending, driven by a handful of unpleasant physical symptoms. Now, thanks to Lisa and her insights, my outlook and experience have changed completely. Now I understand midlife to be a gateway to the most meaningful, impactful period of my life. I understand what my body is asking of me, and now I know that by taking those physical cues, I can open myself up to insights that I would have missed otherwise.

Lisa leads gently, with wisdom, insight and respect. She honors and elevates the experience of each participant, teasing out themes that are at once intimate and universal. She had a remarkable ability to connect one-on-one, as well as to engage women in connection with one another. It’s no accident that the women who participate in her groups are unique, open and supportive."

“I like how the topics and discussions are unpretentious, real, and relevant to daily life while looking toward the full experience of life and what we want to create in ourselves and with our world.

I appreciate Lisa's thoughtful, research-based approach to her offerings. Along with the science, she leaves room for spiritual mystery and discovery as well. She creates a welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere where there's space to voice your perspective, thoughts, or questions. While providing gentle guidance and direction, Lisa encourages the group to learn from one another as we exchange experiences and learnings. The result is a beautiful opportunity for self discovery and growth as we navigate our complex (and often daunting) world and relationships, including the relationship we have with ourselves.”

—Amanda Romualdo

“Lisa doesn't ask questions she hasn't deeply probed in her own life. She asks in a sense of open curiosity; a leader who knows we are all learners. Lisa creates a space for exploration. There are no correct answers, only the honest authentic exploration of a shared, yet personal, journey through menopause.

Lisa facilitates as if she's leading a group of women along a path through a forest both familiar and unknown. We pause, we reflect, and we move along when we're ready. I left the experience feeling acknowledged, honored and heard. I have made friends across time zones. I will meet these women again.”

—Amanda Forsting

“I attended an online book discussion with Lisa. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing from the diverse gathering of women, and was impressed with the way Lisa skillfully and thoughtfully facilitated our conversation.

It was clear she had thought through not only the content of the book, but also the ideas that the book generated, to give our group the best experience possible. I highly recommend whatever Lisa is offering..”

We need more than a meditation mat to get us through life. We need a circle of support and wisdom around us too.
